Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook

Acer announced Acer Aspire S5 its second ultrabook in CES 2012. Aspire S5 is being called the world’s thinnest ultrabook with 15mm thickness as well as being voted as “crowd favorite” best laptop in CES 2012.

Acer aspire S5 is the world’s slimmest ultrabook so for that measures only 15mm at the maximum point. It weights less than 1.35kg and built with 13.3 inch LCD. Its delicately curved chassis in Onyx Black is a magnesium-aluminum alloy and provides protection for the thin-and-light design.

In addition, it features the Acer’s Green Instant On technology for speedy boots and instant resume in 1.5 seconds. This also adds more time in S5′ battery life, which Acer said will last a few weeks in standby mode.

The Aspire S5 ultrabook is smartly designed MagicFlip I/O port panel below the hinge. When needed, a press of the MagicFlip key opens the panel to reveal HDMI, USB 3.0 and 20G bps Thunderbolt input/output ports.

Acer Aspire S5 also has a feature ‘Acer Always Connect’, which lets users wake up the Aspire S5 from a smartphone, tablet or some other remote computing device and quickly access emails, documents and social networks.

Laptop Magazine stated, “Taking home 46.9 percent of the votes, the Acer won over the crowd. This super sleek laptop weighs in at a mere 2.9 pounds and sports a slim 0.6-inch profile. To maintain its girlish figure and provide much-needed connectivity options at the same time, the Acer S5 has a ‘MagicFlip I/O panel that flips out from behind the hinge to reveal HDMI, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports. Acer touts the S5′s long battery life and shock resistance.”

This Acer ultrabook is powered by Intel Core processor, SSD storage for speed and increased shock resistance, professionally-tuned Dolby Home Theater® v4, long battery life via the PowerSmart battery pack (with a 3X longer life cycle than traditional batteries), and is equipped with a chiclet keyboard.

The Aspire S5 will be availalbe in Q2 2012.
